A dream! The meeting of Mauritian music monuments for an epic public performance as a closing chapter to the MAMA JAZ Grand Concerts series. The festival suggests here an original creation through this collection of the most amazing master musicians of contemporary Mauritian history: Linley Marthe, is considered one of the greatest musicians alive on the planet (period!), having been a the bass to Joe Zawinul’s Syndicate for decades and now collaborating with most intense performers, like Chris Potter more recently; Philippe Thomas, is a living legend, Sega and Bepop magician, local incarnation of the Jazz Trumpet, a summa cum laude from renowned Berklee College of Music; Patrick Desvaux, as humble as fierce, a guitar virtuoso and amazing composer, contributing to experimental Jazz research, teaching and local popular music; Christophe Bertin, the most demanded drummer on the Mauritian Music scene, unique in style and subtle in strikes, a measure of speed and power; and Jerry Léonide, youngest of the lot and yet a youthful symbol of maturity as he leads an entire generation of Mauritian musicians through his artistic leaps beyond faiths, pulling his weight on the world scene to empower the uniqueness of Mauritian creative geniuses; magnificent pianist with the added responsibility of music Direction for this grand finale. This concert will honor our masters and call out to future generations!
